Writing is not just a practice, but a way to find oneself within the world. I felt so incredibly lost growing up. I was bullied to the point of being selectively mute and I didn't no where else to turn. It was through the written word that I was able to reclaim my story. It was through the written word I was able to discover I had a voice and that it mattered. It was through writing that I learned strength, empathy, and all the other skills that one needs in order to persist. Now, I write for those who struggle to remain or be seen.
My work and research aims to foster a greater understanding of what it means to be a human who lives with trauma while radically destabilizing the hegemony of the white, heteronormative, patriarchal power structures pervasive within society and literature. It is my firm belief that everyone deserves to feel loved, seen, and heard throughout their lifetime.
